Skiptrace

Jackie's new movie "Skiptrace" will be going into production soon. It will star Jackie and Fan Bingbing. Directed by Sam Fell. To be filmed in Hong Kong and China. The film project will be presented to buyers at Cannes Film Market this month.

In a pre-Cannes deal, Exclusive Media has come on board to produce and co-finance Sam Fell’s action comedy “Skiptrace,” starring Jackie Chan and Fa Bingbing.

‘Skiptrace” will be produced as a Sino co-production by Exclusive Media and China’s Talent Intl., which will also co-finance the film. Chan and David Gerson are producing. Cyrte Investments’ Charlie Coker, who brought the project in, will exec producer with Cyrte.

Exclusive Media is handling international rights and will present the film to buyers at the Cannes Film Market. Exclusive Media’s Damien Saccani will oversee production.

‘Skiptrace” is based on Chan’s original idea and written by Jay Longino with the Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka co-writing. Story follows a Hong Kong detective (Chan) tracking down a mouthy American gambler on the run from his creditors. The pair form an unlikely partnership to take down Hong Kong’s most notorious criminal.

Chan has starred in over 150 films including the “Rush Hour” trilogy, “Shanghai Noon” and “Shanghai Knights.” Fan’s credits include Chen Kaige’s “Sacrifice” and Wang Xiaoshuai’s “Chongqing Blues” and will next be seen as Blink in Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”

Fell directed “Paranorman” and “Flushed Away.”

Chan, Fan, Talent Intl., Longino and Gerson are repped by WME. Chan is also represented by Bloom Hergott’s Jake Bloom & Patrick Knapp and Fan by Timothy Mou. Fell is represented by UTA and Newhouse Porter Hubbard. Gerson is also repped by John Sloss. Longino is also represented by Bernie Cahill of ROAR and Todd Rubenstein of Morris Yorn.

Exclusive Media president of international sales and distribution Alex Walton will introduce the project to buyers on the Croisette and said Chan was “one of the few actors who has proven ability to appeal to audiences worldwide and over and over again does not disappoint at the box office.”

Sam Fell of ParaNorman fame directs the story and Chan will produce with David Gerson. Charlie Coker of Exclusive Media backer Cyrte Investments brought the project in and will serve as executive producer along with Cyrte.

Skiptrace is based on an original idea by Chan about a Hong Kong detective who teams up with a fugitive American gambler to bring down Hong Kong’s most notorious criminal. Jay Longino wrote the story and Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka wrote the screenplay.

Exclusive Media svp of production Damien Saccani will oversee production on behalf of the company.

“After a career spanning 40 years, Jackie Chan is at the top of his game and we are delighted to be partnering with him and our friends at Cyrte on Skiptrace – it’s a fun, action filled script and has the hallmark of a blockbuster hit,” said Exclusive Media co-chairmen Nigel Sinclair and Guy East.

“This movie is about an adventure that brings together different cultures, and we are excited to begin, with our partners at Cyrte and Exclusive, the adventure of making a true US-China co-production that will appeal to audiences around the world,” said president Esmond Ren of Beijing-based Talent International Film Co.

Twenty years ago Ren negotiated what a press release said was China’s first revenue-sharing import film, The Legend Of Drunken Master starring Jackie Chan.

"Skiptrace" is the film which Jackie first intended to shot in Europe ???

Not as far as I know. CZ12 had some scenes shot in Europe and I think that is where that story originated from.

Thanks.Iknow some scene of CZ12 shot in Europe...but after it's wrapped...I remember Jackie intended to shot a movie in Europe and also in China...and I think it was that movie.

The rumours about Jackie filming in Europe started long before he started filming CZ12 due in part to some misunderstanding about another project which was location scouting in Europe. That project has since stalled.

There was no mention, that I'm aware of, of a project filming in Europe after CZ12. Jackie only mentioned Skiptrace once, while promoting CZ12 and did not mention any specific locations.
