Jackie Visits VIVA-University Children’s Cancer Centre, NUH

This was Jackie's third visit to the Children's Cancer Center in Singapore (his last visit was in 2008). Jackie was made Goodwill Ambassador for the VIVA Foundation in 2007 and this visit to Singapore is to raise funds for the hospital. Jackie will be singing with Jonathon Lee and Emil Chau on Sunday 10 May at a charity gala dinner and concert titled Love from the STARS at Resorts World Sentosa.

When asked on his thoughts after visiting the patients, Jackie shared that he has met many ill-health children around the world. Although it used to be a very heart-wrenching experience, he now wants to use his influence as a celebrity to motivate the kids.

“I want to let them know that there are people besides their family members, who do care about them. I hope to give them strength, even if it is just for a day,” he reiterated.

An indirect victim of cancer (Jackie’s father Charles Chan died from prostate cancer), the 61-year-old also wished that money spent on building arms would be used for medical researches instead.

“Given today’s scientific advancement, human beings are able to travel to space. We can even go to Mars. Nothing is impossible these days. How is it that a cure for cancer has not been found after so many years?” Jackie pointed out.

Jackie Chan was really busy yesterday and doing such great work for children. They must have been really happy, so sweet how Jackie Chan was helping that boy building something. Wonderful foto's, really puts a smile on one's face.

The same question as Jackie I also adk myself often: "Why the cancer is still here when so many other illnesses almost disappeared thanks to the research?" I wish a recovery to all kids on the photos and then a nice life to all of them.
